Is the Necchi NC-59QD the Best Sewing Machine for Beginners?

Introducing the Necchi NC-59QD Sewing Machine

Thinking about grabbing a Necchi NC-59QD for your sewing space? Let's talk about all the features and what this machine has, so you can decide if it's the machine for you.

Heavy Duty, Yet Lightweight

The first thing I noticed about this machine is how nice and thick the body of it is. I like how it's heavy and wide. You can see it really has a heavier, wider body style than most domestic machines, but you can see how easily I'm moving it. It really still doesn't weigh very much at all, so I think this is a really nice middle ground on the heaviness of this machine. I like that it's a little bit big; I like that it feels solid. So, that was the first thing I noticed right out of the box on the NC-59QD.

Features and Functions

Another thing that I really love about it is that it really has all the basic features you need. It has some things that are missing from a lot of basic models, like the presser foot pressure dial, and it also has a needle threader. It has speed control—you know, I think that's really important, especially for kids, beginners, and just anybody that likes to be able to control their stitches.

Easy-to-Thread Bobbin

I love how easy the bobbin is to thread. I love that it has the little blade that cuts the bobbin thread off when you're done, and that you don't have to do that final step of pulling up the bobbin thread with the needle. That's always a step that can be a little confusing for kids and beginners here in my sewing space, so I like machines that just bypass that. It's really nice and convenient when you can just skip that final step, so I love that the Necchi NC-59QD has that.

Plenty of Stitches

I love that it has plenty of stitches here. You never know when you might want to use something fun and decorative on your project, or a lot of these are functional stitches, so it's nice to not be limited. Those stitches are there for you if you decide you need them.

Start/Stop Push Button

This machine also has a start/stop push button here on the front of the machine. So, if you don't want to use the foot pedal to sew, you can actually just press the button to start sewing and stop sewing. A lot of machines do have this, but I really like that this machine doesn't make you unplug the foot pedal to use it. A lot of machines do make you unplug it in order to use the button; this one doesn't, so I think that's awesome. I really like that.

Needle Stop Feature

And going along with that, another thing I really like about the NC-59QD is that the needle always stops either in the up position or the down position. It doesn't stop halfway in between, causing those extra threads to pull out of the bobbin area. It just doesn't do that. When you stop, it chooses if it's going to go all the way up or if it's going to go all the way down, and it stops in one of those two positions. And that's something that I really like in a sewing machine.

Final Thoughts on the Machine

And other than those points, it just has all the other basic things that you would expect, such as the presser foot, the bobbin area, and the different settings up here. Everything is just as you would expect them to be; everything looks great. I am really excited to play with this machine more, really dive into all the stitches that it has, and just test it on some heavier materials and things like that.
