Hat Inspiration for Quick, Cozy, Giving

The most wonderful time of the year is upon us, and as knitters and crocheters, one of the best gifts we can give someone is a handmade hat!  Luckily we have lots of patterns and ideas for you...

If you want to go for something quick and cozy, why not use a super bulky yarn?  This Kotoisa Hat by local knitwear designer Sherrie Kibler is easy enough for beginners and looks gorgeous made up in our Malabrigo Rasta.

Want to wow them with some luxurious style?  Turn up the fluffy comfort with this Cloud Cap by Brennen Mehl. She used one skein of Kelbourne Woolens Perennial and held it double with some Brediculous Laceweight Mohair.  You simply have to feel this one to get the full effect, but trust us, it's amazing.  This pattern is also available for free on our website here.



The Lotus Flower Beanie has been a super popular design this year, and we can certainly see why.  We get tons of comments on the one we have in the shop.  What a fun way to use two colors to create a stunning effect.  This one is made from our Pindrop Fibers naturally dyed Magne.  You've gotta love how quickly those super bulky yarns work up!  This is one your recipient is sure to treasure.  Pattern is available online here.



Now for a couple for the crocheters!   I just love to try new and different crochet stitches.  When I discovered this unusual stitch that created a thick, rocky texture, the Feldspar Hat was born.   This is made in Blue Sky Fibers' new yarn, Skyland, a DK weight blend of wool, alpaca, and silk.  Truly a dream.  I love wearing this hat.  Get the pattern for free on our website!



This Faux-Knit Crochet Hat utilizes the gorgeous Waistcoat Stitch, which looks like a knit stitch!  Local crochet designer Ashley Casteel came up with this brilliant idea to use Malabrigo Nube wool roving for a thick dramatic brim.  It's also customizable; make it as a full hat, or the instructions also include directions for making the top open for your ponytail!  No one does hand dyed colorways like Malabrigo!  This pattern is available for purchase through our shop.
