Materials

8 (8, 9, 9, 10, 11) hanks Blue Sky Techno in Wicked

Note: Techno is an Aran weight blend of wool, alpaca, and silk that comes in 50g hanks.  Be sure to work a gauge swatch regardless, but especially if you plan to substitute yarns.  Since Techno has such an unusual construction it may not lend itself as easily to substitutions as a more conventional yarn would.

Row 193 (193, 197, 199, 201, 203): Sl1, (p1, k1), to last st. P1.  Cast on 8 (8, 10, 10, 12, 12) sts in seed stitch.

How?  Flip over your work so that the needle with all the stitches on it is in your left hand.

Insert the empty right-hand needle into the stitch closest to the tip of the left-hand needle.  Purl, but don’t drop the stitch off the left-hand needle.  Transfer the newly made purl stitch from the right-hand needle to the left-hand needle by inserting the left-hand needle into the bottom of the new stitch on the right-hand needle by crossing the left-hand needle over in front of the newly made stitch and entering into the stitch from right to left.

The next stitch will be a knit stitch, so insert the empty right-hand needle into the next stitch on the left-hand needle as if to knit.  Knit the stitch but don’t drop it off the left-hand needle.  Transfer the newly made st onto the left-hand needle the same way as before.

Repeat these 2 cast-on sts 3 (3, 4, 4, 5, 5) more times.
