Bauble Edge Shawl Crochet Pattern
by Laura Gray

Note for Susurro yarn: My finished scarf measures about 31” in length. I used a 5.5mm hook to give a drapey, loose stitch. It took 1 skein to complete this project.

SECTION 1:
Start with a HDC foundation row in a multiple of 4 stitches. This will form the middle spine of the finished piece.

Row 1:
CH 5, TC x 3, CH 5, SL ST to anchor – all in same space (this makes a fan shape motif that will be repeated throughout this half of the scarf).
SL ST in each of next 4 stitches, then repeat fan shape
repeat across row

Row 2:
CH 1, SL ST up each stitch in last CH 5 to the top
CH 2, SC in middle TC
CH 2, SC in top of chain 5
CH 3, SL ST in top of next chain 5
repeat across row

Row 3:
CH 1, SC into CH 2 sp, CH 1, SC into CH 2 sp, CH 1, SL ST into ch 3 space
put fan in CH 3 sp (CH 5, TC x 3, CH 5, sl st)
repeat across, finish with sl st in edge st at top of ch 5

Row 4: CH 7, SL ST to anchor in ch 5 sp
CH 2, SC in middle TC
CH 2, SC in top of chain 5
CH 3, SL ST in top of next chain 5
repeat across row
end with CH 7 anchored in edge of previous row (top of a ch 5)

Row 5:
CH 1, SL ST up each stitch in last CH 7 to the top
put fan in chain sp (CH 5, TC x 3, CH 5, sl st)
CH 4, SL ST to anchor in next ch sp
fan in chain sp, CH 4 – repeat this across

Row 6:
CH 1, SL ST up each stitch in last CH 5 to the top
CH 5 across, ST ST to anchor in top of next ch 5 – repeat across making chain arches of 5 stitches each

Row 7:
CH 1
3 beads (bead ST, CH 1, bead ST, CH 1, bead ST, CH1) (all in chain 3 space above fan)
SL ST in top of chain 5, CH 5 across, SL ST in chain 5 arch sp
repeat across

special st – bead st: YO, insert hook, pull up loop x 3 – pull hook through all 7 loops

Row 8:
CH 1,
CH 7, SC ST to anchor beside bead
repeat across

Row 9: bauble edging
SL ST in chain 7 sp, CH 4, DC (into ch sp), then bauble, CH 4 down, SL ST to anchor in ch sp
CH 4, SL ST in SC
repeat across

special stitch – bauble: CH3
YO, insert hook in bottom chain st, YO, pull up a loop, pull through 2 loops, repeat until there are 7 stitches on hook,
then pull through all 7, anchor with SL ST at top of DC
